Primary Health Care represents the first level of contact between citizens and the health system and encompasses activities of health promotion, disease prevention, and diagnosis. This technical note aims to systematise and propose best practices for patient reception within radiology services integrated into Primary Health Care, highlighting the specific contribution of Radiographers to patient safety, quality of care, and the humanisation of healthcare. In this context, these professionals play a pivotal role by ensuring technically rigorous and ethically grounded imaging procedures. Patient reception in radiology services significantly influences the overall perception of care quality, which requires practices based on clear and empathetic communication and respect for human dignity.

The formal presentation of the Radiographer, including explicit identification of name and professional role, strengthens the transparency of the care process, promotes social recognition of the profession, and enhances patient trust.

The unambiguous identification of the patient, confirmation of the medical referral, and the provision of information tailored to the individual level of health literacy are essential processes for ensuring clinical safety. The explanation of the purpose of the examination, its expected benefits, and the risks associated with ionising radiation also supports informed decision-making. Informed consent must be grounded in rigorous and understandable communication.
