Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not currently under review or submitted for publication with any other journal.
- The contribution is free from plagiarism and strictly adheres to citation guidelines.
- If artificial intelligence is used, it has been used appropriately, under human supervision, and there is an explicit statement regarding its use.
- The manuscript complies with the provisions set out in Instructions for Authors; figures and tables are included within the text, not at the end of the document as appendices.
- The text complies with the style guidelines and bibliographic requirements set out in Instructions for Authors, in the About the Journal section.
- When available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- It was submited the cover page – prepared in accordance with the template provided for this purpose “Folha_Rosto.docx” – in .docx format;
- The manuscript is presented here – prepared in accordance with the guidelines set out in the authors’ guide. The editable file “Layout_Manuscrito.docx” is available for download, and the manuscript must be submitted in .docx format, named “Manuscrito_[Abstract title].docx”
- The document ‘Ethical and Legal Declaration of Authorship and Conflict of Interest’ – duly completed and signed by the authors – is submitted in .pdf format.
- Compliance with ethical and legal requirements is clearly described; all authors accept full responsibility for the publication; where applicable, institutional authorisation and/or the opinion of the Ethics Committee has been obtained; compliance with the principles governing conflicts of interest is ensured
Original Articles
Original work with a practical, evidence-based approach to research, presenting significant and conclusive results. This category includes studies conducted within the scope of Experimental Studies, Observational Studies and Clinical Trials.
Articles submitted for this category must follow the standard scientific format: Title, Abstract (maximum 250 words), Keywords (3 to 6 words), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and References (maximum 3,500 words, excluding the title, abstract, keywords, bibliographical references, tables and figures and their captions).
Review Articles
In-depth studies that provide an update on the current state of knowledge or practice regarding relevant topics, involving the evaluation of a body of data drawn from various studies. This category of articles includes systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Narrative reviews will not be accepted.
They must be structured as follows: Title, Abstract (maximum 250 words), Keywords (3 to 6 words), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and References (maximum 4,500 words, excluding the title, abstract, keywords, references, tables and figures and their captions).
Clinical Cases
Clinical case reports of interest to radiographers, radiotherapy technicians and nuclear medicine technicians relating to their clinical practice.
The structure of the publication includes Title, Abstract (maximum 250 words), Keywords (3 to 6 words), Introduction, Clinical History, Diagnostic or Therapeutic Methods (maximum 3 figures, where the captions provide a more detailed explanation of the case, investigations and findings), Discussion, Conclusion and References (maximum of 2,500 words, excluding from the count the title, abstract, keywords, references, tables and figures and their captions; maximum of 6 authors and 5 references). The author must state in the manuscript that they have obtained informed consent from all individuals studied.
Continuos Education Articles
Educational articles with a didactic purpose, designed to provide updates in the field in question. This category is open to articles that explore protocols and guidelines in depth, as well as those that report changes to guidelines or address relevant questions on the topic in question. Continuing education articles should include questions for readers to promote dynamic learning.
These articles must follow the following structure: Title, Abstract (unstructured, maximum 250
words), keywords (3 to 6 words) and the following sections: Introduction, Practical Application/Implementation (indications, methodology, interpretation and clinical impact), References (maximum of 40), 6–10 multiple-choice questions, each with 4 answer options and only one correct answer.
Technical Notes
Publication of practice guidelines for Radiology, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine Technicians.
They must consist of a Title, Abstract (maximum 250 words), Keywords (3 to 6 words), Introduction, Main Body, Conclusion and References. They may include articles on equipment, imaging techniques or therapeutic approaches of technical significance (maximum 4,000 words, excluding the title, abstract, keywords, bibliographical references, tables, figures and their captions from the word count).
Letter to the Editor
Comments on articles published in the journal or other topics of current interest. In the former case, comments must be received within six months of the publication date of the article in question. The text must not exceed 600 words, four authors and five bibliographical references. They may include one table or figure. No abstract is required. They must follow the following general structure: identify the article/justify the submission; provide evidence from the literature, citing the bibliographical references. Authors’ replies must adhere to the same guidelines. The topicality of Letters to the Editor is a factor in their likelihood of acceptance.
Copyright Notice
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons licence that permits sharing of the work provided the authors are credited.
Authors are permitted and encouraged to publish and distribute their work online (e.g. via institutional repositories or personal websites), provided they acknowledge that the work was first published in this journal.
Privacy Statement
The names and addresses provided in this journal will be used exclusively for the services provided by this publication and will not be made available for other purposes or to third parties, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) [(EU) 2016/679].
Radiações Journal manages the entire editorial workflow, from submission to publication.

Radiações Journal takes the privacy of its readers and users very seriously.
1. General provisions:
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation [(EU) 2016/679], the data controller is Radiações Journal.
We do not sell, share or transfer personal information to third parties.
Radiações Journal tracks usage patterns on its website. This analysis is intended solely to identify access to articles.
Other aspects of our website’s workflow do not require the use of cookies.
2. Data collected about users
Browsing and reading articles on our website does not require readers to provide any personal information.
Registration on our website is optional and voluntary, but is required for the submission, review or editing of manuscript content. The data requested includes only the following:
- Identity data: title, first name, surname, initials, gender, username, institutional affiliation, ORCID number, biographical summary (e.g., department and position) and languages spoken.
- Contact details: personal URL, email address, telephone numbers and postal address.
- Additional personal data: scientific areas of interest;
Publishing a scientific article is inherently a public process. The names of all authors and the email address of the corresponding author of an article in the Radiações Journal will be made available to the journal’s readers to facilitate scientific communication.
Collecting these email addresses for commercial use is not permitted.
Radiações Journal itself will not send unsolicited emails to authors, unless this relates exclusively and directly to the article they have published in Radiações Journal.
Radiações Journal may use users’ contact details for academic purposes (e.g., to request a review of a book/article, to confirm the successful submission of content, or to request new work from authors).
Radiações journal reserves the right to disclose members’ personal information if required by law, or in good faith and on the belief that such action is reasonably necessary to comply with legal proceedings, respond to complaints or protect the rights, property or safety of its members.
