Issue No. 19 of the journal RADIAÇÕES marks an important milestone in the history of this scientific publication. This issue is the first to be produced entirely using the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform for the entire editorial process, the first following integration into the RCAAP (Portuguese Open Access Scientific Repositories), and the first to be assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) directly.

Also, Issue No. 19 of the journal RADIAÇÕES, in its editorial, brings to a close a cycle of three issues that seek to draw attention to the vital role of science and research and their conscientious application within clinical practice, with a view to consistent professional development – not only individual, but above all, collective. Whilst in Issue No. 17 we looked at research as the cornerstone of the profession, in Issue No. 18 we were challenged to move from science towards clinical practice, demonstrating how evidence-based practice (largely the result of ongoing research) can serve as a compass for the profession. Issue No. 19 shows us that these two steps enable us to establish ourselves consistently and fruitfully as professionals working within a multidisciplinary team.

This issue features six new scientific publications of various types.
